Species Information

Alani is endemic to all main Hawaiian islands and is a member of the Rutaceae family.

Distribution

Alani is found on all the main Hawaiian islands except Kaho’olawe and Ni’ihau.

Habitat

Alani grows in mesic to wet forests.

Threats

  • Competition with alien invasive plants
  • Trampling by feral ungulates
  • Consumption of seeds by rodents
